My American Idol

Trent has been trying to talk me into converting to an iPhone for ages. They really are a handy tool, but so useful for parents too. I know, it seems pricey, but Trent's gadget has been worth its weight in gold. The day Zach spent 9 hours in the ER for his smashed finger, I think Trent would have paid someone cash to give him one if his had run out of batteries. That thing was the ultimate entertainer. They browsed the internet and played games till Zach nearly forgot where he was.

I have been reluctant to switch b/c it requires me moving from Sprint to At&t. Where we live, my past experience has been that the At&t dead spots were unbearable. For me, I imagine an iPhone would be wonderful to keep my schedule straight. I just can't seem to remember every appointment for all of us these days. And to have the internet...God forbid I be away from it for a few hours...would be a useful tool now and again. But this weekend, oh how I would have loved an iPhone to capture the joy I experienced with a few photos.

I have been opting to leave my camera at home a lot lately. I LOVE my big Canon. It takes wonderful pics. But I don't want to be the crazy camera mom either. I used to carry my old point and shoot in my purse, but the battery is failing. I even used to cart around a little flip video camera, but lord only knows why I stopped doing that. I should have learned when I went to Josh and Andrea's wedding sans memory card! Had I been equipped with a backup camera, there would have been no tears. So, this weekend, I was kicking myself for opting not to bring anything with me to a birthday party for one of Zach's classmates. What I would give for a good pic...and a video?? oh MY!

The party was at a cute little shop called Kiss a Frog. One part of the party included a HUGE rack of costumes for the kids, a pile of toy guitars, a stage, and a karaoke mic. The 15 or so kids proceeded to perform the most adorable concert. I don't know why I was surprised, but Zach and one other friend were inseparable from the stage. They jammed the guitars and sang songs till the rest of the group was ready for something new. They were the first and LAST two at the microphone and all I had was my crappy Motorola flip phone which I do not know how to remove photos from. Even if I did, they are grainy and barely visible. So, I have to chalk the images up to a cherished memory.

Lesson Learned. Ignore me and my camera (and possibly my shiny new iPhone) next time you see me.

I added a link in the post. Its up in Bville near the Motorolla offices off of J street. SUPER cute for a girl party too. They all got to wear princess dresses and the ladies did their makeup (tattoos for the boys). They have the biggest bouncy house I have ever ever seen and they have a little melissa and doug shop in the front. They did a wonderful job.
