Seaside Retreat-Part 2

Exploring, Biking and Enjoying the Sun

Monday, Zach and I took to the trail and found the lake while Reece enjoyed his morning cat nap. Zach was so excited for Florida as we had promised him he would no longer have to take naps. We thought he would outgrow them years ago, but he still willingly takes a 2.5 hour nap every afternoon. The prospect of playing all day was extremely enticing to him. The abrupt loss of sleep made for a couple of melt downs, but in all, it was super fun to have the 1:1 time with Z while Reece was down.

We spent the day at the pool and in the afternoon, I took Zach to the Kid's Club for more swimming, fountains, a playground and tye dying tshirts.

The rental center ran out of kid size bikes, so we rented a trailer for both kids. This proved quite handy in packing beach gear and buzzing around town. And the kids enjoyed the breeze.

We also decided that vacation is a time to indulge. Hey, why not? So Zach got his choice of crazy sugary cereals for breakfast and ice cream every night. I am not sure which he loved more. When we got back, a kid at school had a baggie of Lucky Charms for a snack one day. Zach proclaimed "You know, WE only eat naughty cereal on vacation." I thought it was pretty funny that he has deemed sugary cereal "naughty" all on his own.

The airport doubles as a Naval base, so there are plenty of flyby missions of aircraft you dont see everyday. Fighter jets, helicopters, HUGE carriers and Osprey buzz the pool often and they never fail to impress Zach (and usually us too).

Tuesday night, we enjoyed an outdoor play for the kids. It was mindnumbingly silly. But, "Go, Dog, GO!" is apparently quite humorous to children of all ages. Zach also enjoyed bumping into a preschool friend whose family was staying about a block from our house.
