Family Photos

Another year has passed and we pulled off the annual photo session with only minor hitches. Last year, it was FRIGID and we all had to pretend we were cozy. This year, it was so hot, we were scared to wear our sweaters. BUT, something wonderful happened. The weather cooled off just the right amount to make everyone comfy. Sure, the fall leaves have already passed, and I was sporting a giant zit on my cheek, but I think both boys smiled plenty.

I have learned to just roll with it since the photographer we use is always able to capture something sweet regardless of the circumstances. She is so wonderful and casual. We were lucky to meet Allison Rupp (PhotoAlli) several years ago, and there is never any question who I will call each year. I love having pics that are not posed or overly formal or traditional. I love natural light and outdoor shots. I have never been disappointed. More over, I love Alli's perspective on family photography. Sure, you have to get the obligatory "all eyes front and smiling" shot, but she always manages to capture something unexpected. She is so pure and genuine and what she finds with her lens always makes us smile. Her blog is sweet too and even has a sampling of her work.
